Photo Blog Introduction...

I'm going to share with you a picture a day, that summarizes one of the most exciting adventures from that day. It could be something that happened to me, something that I witnessed, or something that keeps me asking more questions about my faith and love in a God that is beautiful and powerful. I am going to share it with each of you, in hopes that you can share the memories and moments with me on this Journey. Inspired by, Hebrews 12:1.

8.23.12-Majestically Grounded

“Wilderness to the people of America is a spiritual necessity, an antidote to the high pressure of modern life; a means of regaining serenity and equilibrium.”  –Sigurd Olson.

Regina and I went on my favorite hike, a place of serenity and complete peace.  The hawks are so close to us, the wind was fierce, and the sun was warm.  Stony Man, the simplest hike known, with the most beautiful reward at the end.  We stopped in the Big Meadows museum and visitor center where we took a journey down the creation of the Shenandoah National Forest.  It was inspiring and awesome to read about the paths that were not yet paved 50 years ago, but now are well paved for people like us to enjoy its beauty.

“The love of wilderness is more than a hunger for what is always beyond our reach; it is also an expression of loyalty to the earth.” –Edward Abbey, Desert Solitude, 1968.

“Those who contemplate the beauty of the earth find reserves of strength that will endure as long as life lasts.”  Rachel Carson, Silent Spring 1956

The power that the Earth has is all encompassing and powerful beyond belief.  From snakes to fire ants, from bears to Hawks, and from day lilies to ferns, it is majestic.  It's strange how I can feel more grounded 30,000 ft. up a cliff than below sea level on paved ground.

Genesis 1:26-28,
God spoke: "Let us make human beings in our image, make them reflecting our nature So they can be responsible for the fish in the sea, the birds in the air, the cattle, And, yes, Earth itself, and every animal that moves on the face of Earth." God created human beings; he created them godlike, Reflecting God's nature. He created them male and female. God blessed them: "Prosper! Reproduce! Fill Earth! Take charge! Be responsible for fish in the sea and birds in the air, for every living thing that moves on the face of Earth.  What an honor to have been given the privilege to take care of and provide for the earth He created.    And how tragic it is that very few areas are well cared for and maintained.
